Begin your day with a drive through the Moche countryside. Along the way, you'll stop at the home of a typical Moche family. They will warmly welcome you and proudly show you their crops -- corn, chili, caigua and others. Walk with the owner of the house to hear about the techniques used to grow these products and to treat the soil to ensure better production.
At the on-site Huacas de Moche Museum, your guide will show you several artifacts and some tombs from the Mochica culture. Various utensils and artistic ceramics used by the ancient Moche people are on display.
Next, visit the amazing Sun and Moon Pyramids -- the center of power on the northern coast of Peru during the Moche era. A stunning set of mud-brick friezes on the walls of the Temple of the Moon have been excavated by archaeologists. From this temple, there is an excellent view of the Moche Valley. Return to Salaverry port at the end of your tour.
