Durban is the largest city in the South African province of Kwa-Zulu Natal and is the third-largest city in the country. It is also the busiest port in South Africa and is also a major center for tourism because of the city's warm, subtropical climate and extensive beaches. Diverse cultural influences from Asia, Africa and Europe have each contributed to Durban's development and unique character.
Enjoy a panoramic sightseeing tour from the comfort of an air-conditioned motorcoach. You will follow the palm tree-lined Victoria Embankment, passing the Vasco da Gama Clock, the Dick King Statue, the imposing Durban Club and the Yacht Club. Continue to Currie Hill, stopping briefly to take in the panoramic views of the city.
From here, it is a short drive to the Durban Botanic Gardens. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the gardens, which house a wide variety of local flora are also very well known for the orchid house and rare collection of cycads -- a plant species that dates back to prehistoric times.
Next, drive to the Moses Mabhida Stadium for a photo stop. Depart for the Juma Mosque -- reputedly the largest in the Southern Hemisphere and famous for its massive golden dome and turrets.
You'll visit Victoria Street Market, commonly known as the Indian Market, to browse amid delicately-fashioned ornaments and other exotic objects. Eastern and African aromas envelop you as you wander past herb and spice stalls or sort through baskets of delightful wooden carvings. Bargains are endless and you'll have a brief time to shop.
Return to the pier, passing the Old Market Square and the City Hall en route.
