Discover the natural and cultural wonders of Kona on a four-hour journey from the slopes of Hualalai Volcano to the sea. Begin with a scenic drive from the Kona port to the Kona Cloud Forest Sanctuary, where a ranger guide leads you through 70 acres of lush, high-elevation rainforest. Walk beneath towering tree ferns, ?ohi?a trees, and bamboo while learning about rare tropical plants, native birds, and the endangered cloud forest ecosystem.
Next, travel to the Mountain Thunder Coffee Farm, nestled in the mineral-rich volcanic soil of Hualalai. Tour the coffee mill and sample award-winning 100% Kona coffee, grown and roasted on-site.
Continue to Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park, where your guide will take you on a short hike to view ancient heiau (temples) and petroglyphs carved by early Hawaiians. Walk to the shoreline to explore traditional fishponds and traps, once used to store and manage fish stocks. Along the coast, you may spot green sea turtles, Hawaiian monk seals, or even dolphins and whales, depending on the season.
This tour offers a rich blend of ecology, history, and scenic beauty—an ideal way to experience the Big Island’s diverse landscapes and cultural heritage.
