Meet Kit Kemp, MBE

Kit Kemp is the Creative Director of Kit Kemp Design Studio and Firmdale Hotels, the internationally acclaimed hotel group she co-founded with her husband, Tim Kemp, in 1985. Celebrated for her richly layered interiors, bold use of colour and highly individual approach to storytelling through design, Kit has shaped the distinctive character of Firmdale’s 11 award-winning hotels worldwide, including London’s celebrated Ham Yard Hotel, alongside New York’s acclaimed The Whitby Hotel, Crosby Street Hotel and Warren Street Hotel, all recognised with Michelin Key distinctions and international design accolades.

An internationally respected designer, Kit is also the author of four successful books and will introduce Design Stories, her fifth and latest title. Her many honours include House & Garden’s Hotel Designer of the Year, The Crown Estate’s Urban Business Award, and Condé Nast Traveller’s Best Hotel in the World for Design. Appointed an MBE for services to the hospitality industry and charitable causes, she also serves as a Trustee of Fine Cell Work and Heritage of London Trust.
