Sir Alan Collins

Sir Alan Collins is a former member of the British Diplomatic Service. Along with a number of ambassador and high commissioner posts, he led the work for Her Majesty’s Government on the business outcomes from the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics as managing director for Olympic Legacy in United Kingdom Trade and Investment (UKTI).
 

Sir Alan was Britain’s representative in New York and director-general, trade & investment in the U.S. from 2007 to 2011. He was responsible for British political relations in one of the most important cities in the world and for the nine trade and investment teams across the U.S. whose job is to promote British business.
 

Sir Alan is the former British high commissioner to Singapore and was the British ambassador to the Philippines. He has also been the director general of the British Trade and Cultural Office in Taiwan and the deputy ambassador to Ethiopia. Sir Alan has served in a number of jobs in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London.
 

Sir Alan was educated at Strand Grammar School and the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is a member of the MCC, the Royal Overseas League and the Royal Commonwealth Society and is a Freeman of the City of London. He was made a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George in 1997 and a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in 2006.
