Begin your tour with a drive down the Homer Spit, a narrow and bustling strip of land extending into the Kachemak Bay. While taking in the gorgeous views, you’ll get an introduction to the local industries of commercial and sport fishing.
Next you’ll take in the highlights of downtown Homer en route to the award-winning Pratt Museum, which showcases the culture, history and natural environment of the region through interactive displays.
From there you will head 12 miles on the Sterling Highway ( the beginning of the highway to the lower 48) to the Norman Lowell Gallery.
This is a collection of one mans work with 5 mediums of art, along with a historical collection of different art and artifacts.
Heading back into town, pause at the Baycrest Hill overlook for a breathtaking view of Kachemak Bay. What many would call a marine wonderland, here you can see icy fjords, rugged coastlands, and diverse ecosystems converge to create a breathtaking natural masterpiece.
Continue along to the Islands & Oceans Visitor Center, where you will take in the exhibit on the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge before you return to the ship.
Along the way, your guide will include stops at local interests depending on availability.
