Head off the beaten track to discover natural Alaska on an exhilarating three-hour active biking adventure suited to any fitness level. Enhance your Alaskan adventure by boosting your pedal power with an e-bike -- a great way to level the playing field between grandparents and grandchildren or avid bikers and health-limited partners, as you choose your own assist level and the bike smooths out the hills and lengthens the distance you can travel.
From the pier, a scenic 20-minute van ride transports you to Fish Creek Park on North Douglas Island. Grab an e-bike and safety equipment. With some individual training, there's time to practice shifting gears and using the pedal assist. Once you're comfortable and confident, your guide will lead you single-file along the shoreline of North Douglas Island on a dedicated paved bike lane, taking in fresh ocean breezes, breathtaking views of Mendenhall Glacier, a waterfall, the beautiful shoreline, and an old-growth forest. Pause for a short walk through the world's northernmost rainforest to learn about some flora and fauna endemic to Southeast Alaska.
At a favorite local beach, eat your snack and hop back on your e-bike for a ride to the end of the road. Back at Fish Creek Park, reboard the transportation and return to the dock.
Appropriate for anyone between the ages of 12-78 who can ride a bike.
Please note: Guests should be in good health with overall good balance and mobility. Guests with vertigo or a hip, leg, hand or shoulder condition are not allowed to participate. Participants must be able to ride a bike. Dress warmly in layered clothing with gloves, a scarf, and a hat; outer layer should be windproof and waterproof. Bring a backpack to stow any layers you shed. Minimum height is 4'0. Minimum age is 12 years; maximum age is 78 years. Tour does not operate on Sundays.
