No experience is necessary for this brilliant, memorable, non-strenuous, one-hour interpretive glacier walk.
Take off from Juneau by helicopter and soar over the massive Juneau Ice Field. Upon landing at the trekking site on Mendenhall Glacier, you will be greeted by your knowledagable guide. Your guide will provide detailed explanations of the glacier environment and the surrounding area and will teach you how to use the equipment provided. There is plenty of time for photos.
Please note: Walking is moderate. Terrain includes flat to rolling surfaces with scattered lumps of snow and ice. Dress warmly in layered clothing with gloves, a scarf, and a hat; outer layer should be windproof and waterproof. Rain- and windproof outerwear, boots, and gloves are provided. Wear sunglasses. Minimum age is 8 years. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair as the helicopter and glacier are not wheelchair accessible. Guests weighing 250 lbs or more (fully clothed) pay an additional surcharge over the published fare directly to the tour operator just prior to the flight. Guests' weights will be verified during check-in. The tour operator endeavors to be discreet, but individual circumstances may not allow for complete privacy. Seating is determined by the weight and balance of the aircraft. The tour operator will do their best to keep groups together but may not be possible. Bags cannot be taken on the flight; a secure location is provided for storing personal items. iPads, iPad minis, tablets, drones, and selfie sticks or other extendable items are not permitted. Waiver must be signed and medical conditions disclosed.
