Embark on a sensory and immersive experience on this excursion that is perfect for the cultural epicurean. Along the way you’ll enjoy wine and food pairings as well as a stop at one of Prince of Wales Island’s most famous sights.
To start today’s journey, depart Klawock Island dock and head to a secluded location along the Klawock River to enjoy some of the signature flavors of the island. Here you’ll try wine pairings and sample the harvest from one of the local producers, hearing the stories of how they originated and what makes the Klawock variety such a delicacy. You’ll sample oysters (Klawock is known throughout Southeast Alaska for its oysters), salmon, halibut, kelp, salmon roe, and seasonal berries. Enjoy a curated selection of wines, chosen by our chef to complement each course.
Next, you’ll head to Klawock's Veteran's Memorial Park and Klawock's Totem Park, two cultural treasures showcasing a remarkable collection of intricately carved totem poles that narrate the rich heritage of the Tlingit people. Nestled among scenic landscapes, the park is a living testament to the artistry and stories passed down through generations.
At the end of the excursion, depart and take the short drive back to Klawock Island dock.
