Experience one of Prince of Wales Island's premier bear-viewing spots on this you-drive Jeep® adventure led by a knowledgeable guide.
From July to September, black bears and bald eagles gather at Dog Salmon Fish Pass to feast on spawning pink and chum salmon. Located at the outlet of Dog Salmon Creek, this natural chokepoint offers exceptional wildlife viewing from elevated platforms maintained by the Forest Service. From a scenic vantage point, watch bears fish, eagles soar, and salmon leap up the fish ladder.
Scenic stops along the drive showcase the island's varied landscapes and allow you to switch drivers.
Please note: Minimum age is 6 years. Minimum age to drive is 25 years with a valid driver's license. Non-drivers are welcome. Jeeps are shared to accommodate up to four guests. Multiple stops allow guests to switch drivers. Waiver must be signed and medical conditions disclosed. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Mobility devices (wheelchairs, walkers, scooters, etc) cannot be accommodated on the transportation. Boarding the Jeep requires a large step up. This is a remote dirt trail. Ride will be bumpy; guests who are pregnant and those with a back or neck condition are not allowed to participate. Guests prone to motion sickness should consider this before booking and/or take appropriate medication. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed. The tour requires walking 50 feet to the bear-viewing platform. Jeep® is a registered trademark of Chrysler Group LLC.
