Discover the charm, character, and cultural depth of Greenland’s second-largest town on this concise yet scenic guided experience. Designed as a triangle-style route, this tour showcases a blend of sweeping viewpoints, local traditions, and the quiet beauty of the surrounding Arctic landscape.
Your journey begins with a drive to Sisimiut’s scenic lookout point, where you’ll enjoy panoramic views across the brightly colored town, the harbor, and the rugged coastal mountains beyond. From there, continue to the dog sledding area, an important and enduring part of local Greenlandic culture. Here, you’ll learn how sled dogs play a vital role in winter transportation and life in Sisimiut, and gain insight into one of the region’s most beloved traditions.
The tour then continues with a relaxed detour along a gravel road just outside town. This short countryside segment highlights the peacefulness of the Arctic wilderness, offering a sense of the stillness, fresh air, and natural scenery that shape everyday life in Greenland.
At the end of your tour, you may choose to conclude at the local museum, one of Sisimiut’s inviting cafés, or return directly to the ship, allowing you to continue your exploration at your own pace.
Please Note
Walking on this tour is limited and generally light, primarily consisting of short distances at the lookout point, the dog sledding area, and your optional drop-off location. Guests can expect approximately 0.2–0.4 miles (300–600 meters) of total walking over the course of the hour, mostly on gravel or paved surfaces. Weather conditions in Greenland can change quickly, and layered, wind-resistant clothing is recommended.
