Walk 200 yards from the tender pier to board a boat for an amazing morning or afternoon out on the waters surrounding Nanortalik.
This region is surrounded by grand-daddy icebergs floating on the surface of the ocean just below the Arctic Circle. Your skillful boat captain will take you as close as possible to these scattered mountains of ice. The many icebergs in the area form part of a habitat that is frequented by a large variety of marine mammals such as seals, humpback whales and minke whales, as well as numerous species of seabird. Keep an eye out for any and all of these fascinating creatures.
At some point along the way the crew will snag an iceberg and harvest some ice to make a beverage for you.
Please note: Wildlife sightings are likely but not guaranteed. Both open and closed boats are used for this tour. Guests on the open boats will be provided with flotation suits, to stay warm on the tour. Suits are available in sizes from S - 3XL. Wear sturdy, non-skid walking shoes. It is essential that you wear warm, layered clothing in order to fully enjoy and participate in this excursion. Bring gloves, a warm hat and a scarf. The level of guide experience varies due to the remoteness of the location. Limited tourism infrastructure is part of the charm here, and you are trading breadth of experience for authentic interaction. Please bring your spirit of adventure and bear with any language difficulties your guide may encounter and with any operational surprises that may crop up. There are no restrooms available during the tour.
