An ideal tour for nature lovers, trekkers and those who want to experience the real ‘jungle’.
Sit back and relax on a scenic drive, passing through small villages as you head towards the Tangkoko Nature Reserve, one of Indonesia’s most important conservation areas. The reserve is located about 20 kilometres northwest of Bitung and is situated amongst rolling hills and valleys.
Upon your arrival at the reserve parking area, you will be greeted by local forest rangers and have an approximately 30 minutes walk to the trek starting point. continue your guided trek and go deeper into the jungle in search of a variety of wildlife that can be observed roaming free in the wild. Have your camera at the ready as you can often see the Black Crested Macaque (the black tailless monkeys) and the Tarsius Tarsier (the world’s smallest primate) as well as Maleo birds, wild pigs and kuskus (large-eyed marsupials).
At the end of your trek, you will reach a black sandy beach, where you will have some free time to relax on the beach or take a refreshing swim. An Indonesian snack box and soft drink refreshment are serve in the beach. walk back to the parking area and you can change cloth in the available local restroom. Finally drive back to the harbor.
Notes: This tour involves approximately 3 hours of walking over uneven ground. The drive to the reserve is approximately 1½ hours. Passengers should wear swimwear under their clothes; take a towel, sunscreen, a hat and insect repellent. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.
