Visit the famous and infamous DMZ (Demilitarized Zone), which bisects the Korean Peninsula and is a clear demarcation of political ideologies. During the Korean War, the DMZ was the no man’s land, or buffer zone, between the North and South. Even today, the DMZ winds 151 miles across the Korean Peninsula, from the Han River estuary in the west to a point just below the 39th parallel in the east. Four once-secret tunnels run beneath the DMZ, covertly connecting the two warring areas. These were dug by the North Koreans. Today you will visit Odusan Unification Tower, located at the top of Mount Odu, 118m above sea level. Situated at the northernmost ceasefire line of the western front where the Han and Imjin River meet, it lies just 460m from North Korea.
Your adventure continues to Imjingak Park, located just 7 km away from the demarcation line between South and North Korea. It’s also a key area with a lot of history. Along the way to the Paju Imjingak Peace Gondola, stop by Mangbaedan Memorial Altar, have an opportunity to walk across The Bridge of Freedom, ring the Peace Bell, gaze upon the iconic Dokgae Bridge.
Please Note:
Bring your passport. Travel time to the DMZ is 75 minutes each way. The coach may not be exclusive to Seabourn guests. Odusan Unification Tower closed on Mondays. It will be replaced to Gloster Hill Memorial Park & Gamaksan Chulleong Bridge. Minimum age is 8 years. Tour does not operate on holidays.
