Start your tour by visiting Changdeok Palace after an approximate 1-hour of ride from the ship. In the early 15th century, King Taejong ordered the construction of a new palace at an auspicious site. The palace consists of several official and residential buildings set in a garden that was cleverly adapted to the uneven topography. The result is an exceptional example of Far Eastern palace architecture and design, blending harmoniously with the surrounding landscape.
The palace has been treasured by Koreans for centuries and Changdeok Palace has been recognized as a World Cultural Heritage site by the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Committee in December of 1997.
After lunch, walk on the Fortress Wall of Seoul, or literally the Seoul City Wall for approx. 2 hours.
The Fortress Wall of Seoul has been reconstructed and repaired several times since its initial construction in 1396. The wall measures between 5 and 8m high and is 18.6km long. It served as a city wall to safeguard the capital for over 500 years throughout Joseon Dynasty. The wall preserves a succession of building techniques and structure developed by Korean people from ancient times. Mt. Naskan Trail runs through Naksan (124m), the lowest mountain of Seoul’s four inner mountains. Naksan is also known as Naktasan ("Camel Mountain") or Tarak, due to its resemblance to a camel’s humps.
