Your coach will head to the Makino Botanical Garden, which opened in 1958 to honor the remarkable achievements of local botanist Tomitaro Makino. The garden exhibits over 3,000 species of unique plants, including those native to Kochi. Admire Japan’s four seasons through this comprehensive, relaxing botanical garden. The guide will point out the highlights of the season and provide tips on how best to enjoy your exploration.
Next, you will continue to Chikurinji Temple, located on Mt. Godai and surrounded by abundant nature. Enjoy the five-storied pagoda, main hall, and garden, which are set on historic grounds that date back to the Kamakura period. Here, you will have the chance to experience meditation. Before the meditation, the priest will explain the process, its purpose, and key points to keep in mind. Feel the sounds of nature and immerse yourself in this cultural experience.
After a relaxing day, you will transfer back to the pier.

Guests are advised to wear comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection. Taking off the shoes will be required one or more locations. Not advisable for guests with mobility limitations. Tour order may vary. Please bring local currency (Japanese yen) for additional purchases. Please realistically assess your physical fitness and ability prior to booking as this tour includes approx. 1 hour-walking with steps at Makino Botanical garden. There are approximately 70 steps in the Chikurinji Temple. Also, floor seating will be required for meditation experience. The priest may not be available on this day. In that case, representative will be in charge.
