A day of exploring the rich nature and culture of Niigata begins at the Fukushimagata Wetlands -- a famous wetlands area and a precious resource for Niigata. Covering an area of 650 acres, Fukushima-ga is home to a diverse range of birds, plants, and animals. Its carefully protected ecosystem and habitats are home to rare species such as the greater white-fronted goose and the water lotus.
In the Visitor Center, learn about the wetlands and the region’s biodiversity through informative exhibits. Then, step outside for a 90-minute walk, fully immersing yourself in Fukushimagata’s stunning natural beauty. Spring brings blooming flowers, summer features lush greenery, autumn offers vibrant foliage and the chance to observe migratory birds, while winter transforms the area into a peaceful snow-covered wonderland. Your guide will point out notable plants and animals.
Connect with nature, reframe your mind, and gain a deeper understanding of this incredible reserve.
