Embark on an enchanting journey through Kitakyushu, where an exhilarating adventure awaits.
Your first stop takes you to Senbutsu Limestone Cave, designated a Natural Treasure in 1935. You'll pass through the cave mouth, whose tooth-like stalactites can be a little intimidating. The icy waters flowing through Senbutsu Cave are part of your experience on this splashy Japanese spelunking hike, as you will walk beside and through the river (ankle deep) for about the 1,000-yard path. Amid the cool embrace of the cave, take note of the thirty named rock formations that line the way, with occasional stalactites and colorful mineral deposits.
Next, in stunning contrast, you'll venture into the serene expanse of the Hirao-dai karst plateau -- a landscape steeped in tranquillity and natural wonder. Meandering along its winding paths, you'll discover a tapestry of lush greenery and captivating vistas, with each step taking you deeper into the timeless harmony of earth and sky.
A short drive returns you to the ship.
Please note:
Tour requires a strenuous walk of two miles. Terrain includes unpaved, uneven walking tracks, more than 600 steps, inclines, stone paths, gravel, rocks, roots, and slippery surfaces. Please realistically assess your physical fitness and ability prior to booking. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes that you don't mind getting wet. Sandals will be provided. You will need to navigate narrow, winding path of solid rock. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Bring a light jacket or windbreaker; it is cool in the cave. Bring local currency, as some vendors do not accept credit cards or US dollars. Tour sequence may vary.
