Amami Island is known for being surrounded by rich nature and today, you will be immersed in this beautiful landscape.
Your first destination is Ohama Seaside Park, known as one of the best beaches in Japan and a well-known relaxation spot for the locals. It is a stunning haven where you can stroll the white sand beaches (you’ll probably spot some crushed coral) and enjoy the ambiance of this picturesque park). Take some photos of this beautiful vista, including panoramic views of the ocean.
Next, head to Kinsakubaru Virgin Forest, a national park known for its pristine ecosystem and subtropical broadleaf trees. Due to the fragility of the landscape and presence of flora and fauna only found on Amani Island, the forest can only be visited with a local specialist guide. As you walk with your guide, they will point out many types of rare hardwoods and you’ll hopefully catch a glimpse of some resident wildlife that if designated as national natural treasure. Journey deep into the forest while enjoying a unique opportunity to experience the sunlight shining through the canopy creating a mystical atmosphere.
Following your hike, return to the pier.
Please note: Please realistically assess your physical fitness and ability prior to booking, as the walk is uphill, over unpaved, rough walking tracks with many steps. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed. To protect against the elements, wear long pants, long sleeves, comfortable walking shoes and bring rain gear. Tour operates weather permitting.
