Arriving at Kuroshio-no-Mori Mangrove Park, you'll immediately recognize its serene natural sanctuary atmosphere as very special indeed. The tranquility of the mangrove forests and diverse wildlife all exist in a park that forms the boundary of the East China Sea and the Philippine Sea.
Make your way through the second-largest mangrove forest in Japan to arrive at your canoeing destination for an opportunity to explore the park as few do. After a safety briefing and instructions, don a lifejacket, climb into your canoe, and set off. Paddle through the serene waterways of the mangrove forest, marvel at the unique ecosystem, and encounter the diverse bird life that calls this natural sanctuary home. This is a pristine archipelago known for rich forests, diverse wildlife, and stunning coral reefs. Take pictures of these beautiful scenes and the sunlight filtering through the trees.
Lunch is served at a local restaurant before you return to the pier, marveling at the beautiful landscapes you saw and the stunning photos you took.
Please note:
Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Bring local currency, as many vendors do not accept credit cards or US dollars. Tour operates dependent on river levels. If river levels are deemed unsafe, a visit to Oshima Tsumugi Village, a sake brewery and the Amami Nature Forest will be substituted. Bring a rain jacket as you will get splashed. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Please see the Shore Excursions team on board the ship to arrange a single or double canoe.
