Take your experience to the level with a trip to the Orang Utan Island Sanctuary. This remarkable conservation haven gives you the opportunity to witness the endangered Orang Utan primates up close in their natural habitats. Not only will you watch these clever apes and their antics, you’ll also learn a thing or two about the scientific research and conservation of the species. So what are you waiting for?
Head across to mainland Malaysia to experience the Orang Utan Island Sanctuary. Along the way you will cross the iconic Penang Bridge, which will provide breathtaking views of the island. It stands as a symbol of Penang’s growth and development.
Your destination is Bukit Merah-a water theme park, surrounded by a tranquil 7,000-acre lake. This great expanse of water is dotted with small islands, one of which is the Orang Utan Island Sanctuary.
A short boat ride brings you to the island that serves as a breeding sanctuary and also as a rehabilitation and conservation facility for this endangered species. Welcome to Orang Utan Island Sanctuary.
Step ashore and enter the 328-foot-long protective "cage" that allows you to view the Orang Utans up close. The animals are un-caged and roam freely in their natural habitat. You’ll see them in the trees, swinging around or just napping.
Learn about the apes and their behaviors during a humbling walk that cages humans instead of apes. Here they live out their happy lives on the island. Take many pictures for memory’s sake.
This wonderful experience offers insight into these captivating primates and will give you an educational and heartwarming experience.
Afterward, you'll take the boat back to the Bukit Merah Pier and drive back to Penang.
