Surround yourself with some of Sihanoukville's most interesting insights. You'll navigate off the main roads and head towards one of the area's less-visited places -- Ream Village.
You will stop at the local government school -- Hun Sen Ream Primary School -- for a warm welcome from the local students and teachers. They are excited, enthusiastic and proud to show you around the grounds. This gives a direct look into the Cambodian education system and teaching methods in rural communities.
Just up the road in this small sleepy town is the Ream Pagoda. This local pagoda is filled with a rich history that your local tour guide will explain as you catch an important glimpse of Cambodia's spiritual and cultural traditions. Inhale the sweet scent of incense sticks, set smouldering to pay respect to the spirit world. Examine the many statues created by the local people from the original mountain stone. In this peaceful place, sip water from a fresh coconut as you take in your surroundings.
A quick stop at the bustling and very local market perfectly encapsulates how Cambodians provide for their families on a day-to-day basis. A trip to the market daily is a necessity for most families who cook their meals based on super-fresh ingredients.
Continue back towards Sihanoukville, pausing at a village and stepping into a house to get a feel for traditional activities such as weaving.
