The Murakami Tea Garden is located in a mountainous region with a breathtaking view of Shimizu Port and majestic Mt Fuji (weather permitting). See the tea plantation and learn about the challenges and intricacies of growing tea plants. Taste the tea grown by the dedicated farmers of this garden.
A local restaurant serves a Japanese-style lunch and a curated pairing of teas. The Tea Master will personally prepare the tea for each dish and provide detailed explanations of your experience through aromas, visual presentation, and taste sensations.
Nihondaira is one of Japan's Top 100 sightseeing spots. At an elevation of 1,000 feet, this hilly area is designated a National Nature Park. Within its boundaries, the trees and fields seasonally yield a rich variety of plums, cherry blossoms, tea and mikan tangerines. From Nihondaira, take the ropeway (cable car) up Mt Kuno.
Atop the mountain, you will find the Kunozan Toshogu Shrine -- the original burial shrine of the first Tokugawa Shogun -- Tokugawa Ieyasu. With beautiful carvings and paintings, the shrine remains culturally and architecturally significant. Enjoy the beautiful landscapes here among the tea gardens before you return to the pier.
Please note:
Tour requires strenuous walking. Terrain includes 200 steps at the ropeway and Kunozan Toshogu Shrine. There may be a wait before boarding the ropeway. Weather and atmospheric conditions vary; no guarantee is offered with regard to visibility or views on any particular day. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Tour sequence may vary. Bring local currency, as some vendors do not accept credit cards or US dollars.
