On this tour, we first depart from the port and visit "Monzen Ichibangai." Here, you can rent traditional attire such as white robes, walking sticks, and straw hats, and learn about their significance.
After preparing, we start the walking tour towards "Ryozenji." Ryozenji is one of the 88 temples of the Shikoku Pilgrimage and has a history of over 1300 years. You can enjoy a peaceful moment in its tranquil grounds. From Ryozenji, we walk approximately 1.5 km for about 30 minutes to "Gokurakuji." At Gokurakuji, the serene garden, designed to evoke the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, naturally inspires a sense of reverence and upright posture. Shikoku Pilgrimage, established by Kobo Daishi (the founder of Shingon Buddhism) at the age of 42, began as a spiritual path to eliminate calamities for himself and others. It is believed that by visiting all 88 temples, one can dispel 88 earthly desires and gain the associated blessings and merits.
Finally, we visit a local soy sauce factory to observe the traditional process of soy sauce production.
After completion of your day, transfer back to the pier.
Please Note:
Please realistically assess your physical fitness and ability prior to booking as the walk is uphill, over unpaved, rough walking tracks with many steps for approximately 2 hours/ approx. 2km walking.
