A drive through pleasant coastal scenery brings you to the island’s ring road. From here, you’ll gear up with a bike and helmet and set out on 40-minute bicycle ride, taking in Xiamen’s celebrated sea views. At Seacoast Square, hop off your bike for a fun foray into the world of Tai Chi. Tai Chi is an ancient form of exercise originating from the unusual combination of self-defense and Taoism. Its slow continuous movements create a harmony between the inner and outer body. It features the hard and soft martial arts technique, celebrated through generations of Chinese for its contribution for human health and longevity. Your Chinese Tai Chi master instructor will demonstrate first; then it’s your turn as you participate in a class to learn the basic moves. Next up is a traditional tea ceremony. The art of serving and drinking tea plays a major cultural role in China. The Chinese tea ceremony emphasizes how the tea tastes and smells. Each step is a sensory exploration and appreciation. Today you will appreciate Tie Guan Yin—a premium variety of Chinese oolong tea boasting a delicate flowery aroma. Enjoy a taste of a vegetarian dessert pie from the Nanputuo Temple—the perfect accompaniment to the delicious tea. Walk off your snack with a stroll through the Old Town area before returning to the ship.
