Welcome to Auckland, the City of Sails -- New Zealand's largest and most populous city and former capital. Explore from the comfort of an air-conditioned motorcoach.
Visit the Auckland Museum to view Maori artifacts, including an 82-foot war canoe and carved meetinghouse or marae. See the Scars of the Heart exhibition, which chronicles New Zealand's involvement in the major wars of the 20th century. There are excellent film clips from World War I and II. Watch the informative audio-visual presentation in the Volcanoes Gallery, where you can experience a simulated earthquake and volcanic eruption.
Drive through Parnell, one of Auckland's oldest districts, where faithful restoration has created a busy shopping area that retains the charm of a small village.
Continue along Tamaki Drive to Okahu Bay and the Savage Memorial Park where you will take in views over the harbor as well as some of Auckland's finest homes.
Return to the city passing the former America's Cup yachting village before crossing the Auckland Harbour Bridge, built in 1959 to link the North Shore suburbs to Auckland.
