To discover hidden gems and soak up the laid-back atmosphere of this iconic Bay of Islands destination - Russell.
You will tender Waitangi and board a ferry to Russell across the bay. Set out with a small group for a more personalized guided tour of the historic town of Russell -- New Zealand's first capital. Explore the charming streets, visit the Russell Museum, and learn about the town's rich maritime heritage.
Picturesque Paroa Bay Winery, nestled amid rolling vineyards overlooking the stunning Bay of Islands, welcomes you. Learn about the winemaking process, taste a variety of award-winning wines, and savor the breathtaking views. Unusually for such a small wine producer, they control all aspects of winemaking, from harvesting the grapes to bottling the wine. Chardonnay is their main focus, with Syrah in second place, followed by Sauvignon Blanc.
Looking out from the al fresco dining area at Sage Restaurant, the views are all-consuming. Here, the experience is about remote beauty, a pristine natural environment, fresh sea air, and total escape. It's these experiences that inform head chef Dan Fraser's curated seasonal menu. Everything you eat today is underpinned by an abundance of fresh, locally-sourced ingredients from land and sea. Dan's is a uniquely creative brand of New Zealand cuisine with an unabashed pride for his region that emanates from every dish.
Back in Russell, step aboard the ferry for the short ride back to Waitangi.
