Foodies, delight your tastebuds as you discover some of the finest produce this small corner of Tasmania has to offer.
You'll traverse the rolling countryside on a tasting trail designed to introduce you to a master chocolatier, local farming families or winemakers at the cellar door. These are people who are super-passionate about what they do and are determined to please your palate with a variety of samples and new taste sensations.
Visit the House of Anvers, where fresh Tasmanian cream, pure butter, exquisite liquors and natural flavors are blended with fine chocolate to create delicious confectionary. Morning tea is served along with an exquisite cup of hot chocolate.
Take a walking tour at 41° South -- an inland fish farm rearing salmon and ginseng in pristine water sourced from the Montana Falls. There are 20 freshwater ponds on site, with Tasmanian Atlantic salmon in various stages of growth. You'll meet the owners and walk around the wetlands to discover how the fish and ginseng are grown. Taste the salmon and ginseng products and enjoy a light fresh lunch here.
Complete the afternoon with more tastings as you head back towards Burnie. High-quality cheeses are on offer at the Ashgrove Cheese factory.
A stop at the Spreyton Cider Company acquaints you with one of the few true tree-to-bottle cider producers in Australia. Sample Tasmanian ciders here -- crisp and refreshing.
