Join a local guide to uncover the magnificent scenery and rich Aboriginal traditions of Litchfield National Park. Discover spiritually-important waterfalls and stone country, ancient rain forests and unspoiled woodland, and learn how these places relate to Aboriginal culture.
Enjoy a snack of homemade mango muffins in front of the grand spectacle of Wangi Falls. You'll be in awe of these thundering falls as they crash over red rock from almost 100 feet above.
Also on the agenda are the spectacular Tolmer Falls. The tallest waterfall in Litchfield, Tolmer provides an expansive view across the plains below -- a great place to appreciate the 1.5 billion years of geological forces that have crafted this landscape.
Next up is the stunning Tabletop Wetland. Perched serenely on a plateau, this area is the perfect place to be still. Listen for birdcalls, decipher the reflections in the water, or watch playful lizards in the understory.
At Florence Falls and Buley Rockhole, hop into the crystal-clear waters of the North (weather permitting) for a swim.
Termites are the primary herbivores of the Northern Territory. The huge housing complexes they build are called termite mounds. These have been ever-present on your journey today and are a wonder of nature. See the colossal Cathedral Termite Mounds and the slightly eerie Magnetic Mounds -- fascinating features of the Top End. Learn how Indigenous people use these industrious creatures and their homes and marvel at these little architects of nature.
From here, it's time to return to Darwin.
