Start your day early in Geraldton and set out on the scenic drive north towards Kalbarri, enjoying the beautiful coastal views and rolling hills as you pass through historical Northampton.
First stop is the Hawks Head Lookout in Kalbarri National Park. Named for its resemblance to a hawk, this viewpoint offers stunning vistas of the Murchison River gorge. Take in the dramatic landscape and snap some photos to capture the moment. Next, head to the Kalbarri Skywalk, an engineering marvel that extends over the edge of the gorge. Here, you will receive a Welcome to Country and a brief discussion about the local Nanda people and their connection to the region.
Stay at the Skywalk for a bush inspired lunch. Enjoy unique flavours that showcase the rich culinary traditions of the region. The local Lobster (crayfish as it is known locally) is on the menu. The combination of stunning views and delicious food and cultural connection makes this a memorable dining experience.
Continue your journey along the coast, with dramatic sea cliffs. Here you understand why this is known as “Shipwreck Coast”, admire the towering cliffs offering breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. Take a leisurely walk along the cliff tops, breathe in the fresh sea air, and watch for dolphins and whales that often frolic in the waters below.
Final stop of the day is at Hutt Lagoon famous for its vibrant pink hue. The lake’s colour changes with the light, creating a surreal and magical atmosphere. Spend some time walking around, taking photos, and marvelling at this natural wonder before returning to Geraldton.
Please Note:
