You’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time as you wander the cobblestone streets of historic Richmond. Established in 1825 the Georgian-era village features handmade brick and mellow stone, quaint cottages and manors and showcases some of Tasmania’s best art and craft.
Visit Richmond Gaol built in 1825 as part of Governor Arthur's system of police districts. One of its infamous inmates was convict Ikey Solomon, said to be the model for Dickens' Fagin.
Next stop is a stunning Coal River Winery, set amidst hectares of vines, with sweeping vineyard and water views. Enjoy a taste of some of Tasmania's finest produce, the cool climate Coal River wines.
Special Notes:
Guests must be 18 or over to participate in wine tasting. There are cobblestone streets / pavements in Richmond. Guests with visual or hearing impairments or travelling in a wheelchair must travel with a companion at all times. To make your day as enjoyable as possible please wear comfortable, flat-soled shoes, clothing suited to the weather conditions, bring a hat, plenty of sunscreen and bottled water.
