Take off from either Winyalkin or Swift Bay (depending on the vessels final anchorage) and fly by helicopter up to the Mitchell Plateau. Experience the spectacular cliffs of the Hunter River as you fly up its deep course to the site of Donkins Falls. Marvel at the Livistona palms clinging to the red rock faces of deep gorges as you fly inland, you may even spot wild cattle or donkeys in the valleys.
Enjoy the broad vistas of the Mitchell Plateau before orbiting and landing above the three tiered Mitchell Falls. After having an hour to admire the falls from the ground, continue with your return flight, which takes in JCR Creek and provides stunning views as you fly back to your awaiting ship.
This tour can be cancelled without penalty either on the day your voyage commences or up until 12 noon on Day 2 of your voyage. Cancellations thereafter are non-refundable. Tablets, iPads, Go-Pro sticks, and drones are not allowed on the flights to ensure a full field of vision for pilots and guests alike. Wear sunglasses and preferably dark clothing as any bright colors will reflect. Guests weighing 250 lbs or more (fully clothed) must pay an additional surcharge over the published fare. No bags are allowed on the flight; (there are no storage areas where the helicopter takes off from so please leave these items on the ship). Guests must be able to get into and out of the helicopter and walk unassisted from the zodiac to the flight site – walking is required on uneven surfaces at the top of the falls and only natural seating is available. Employees can give a helping hand into and out of the helicopters but are not allowed to lift or carry a guest. Canes, crutches, walkers, etc., cannot be taken on the flight.
