Leaving the pier by air-conditioned motorcoach, you'll travel through downtown Napier and admire some of its magnificent Art Deco buildings.
Cross the Heretaunga Plain -- a journey of about 30 minutes -- to Abbey Cellars. Greeting you at this distinguished winery is a striking Gothic building constructed by owner Warren Haworth. Warren's winemaking focus is to craft small-volume, Bordeaux-style red blends, including the winery's renowned Cabernet and Merlot. Enjoy tasting a few fine vintages here.
A half-hour panoramic drive brings you to the Giants Winery at Craggy Range. Visit the underground cellar and barrel fermentation rooms with Michael Bancks. Sample a selection of the 'Family' collection wines from the Te Muna Road and Gimblett Gravels vineyards and finish with a taste of 'Sophia' -- the iconic red blend.
Eye-candy scenery accompanies you back to the ship -- a one-hour journey along the picturesque coast.
Please note:
Minimum age is 18 years. Abbey Cellars is closed on January 19, 2019; a wine tasting at Elephant Hill will be substituted.
