Nelson has so much to offer with its outstanding surroundings and climate providing inspiration for an abundance of artisans creating everything from sublime wines & beautiful food to a broad array of art.
Discover the best Nelson & Tasman have to offer. Depart the pier in one of our luxury vehicles to first visit Parker Gallery – hosting an array of high-quality art from the best of local artists across a variety of mediums. From here we’ll visit Jens Hansen Jeweller, creator of ‘The One Ring’ from The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.
Next, it’s the world-famous Nelson Classic Car Museum with its stunning collection from all eras and all parts of the globe. There is no need to be a car enthusiast, these beautiful vehicles and fun set designs are sure to bring back your childhood memories.
The artisan rich Upper Moutere was initially settled by German immigrants, amongst the rolling hills covered in vineyards and hop fields we’ll find the Moutere Hills Vineyard – hosting us for lunch with platters of local produce in their sublime Forsters Restaurant. A tasting of the Moutere Hills wine collection is also included here.
Following lunch, we’ll take you a little deeper into the Moutere to the Michael MacMillan Gallery, Michael is an excellent artist specialising in bronze, aggregate and steel work while also creating brilliant functional art using timber, wine barrels and more.
We’ll call into Mapua, a small yet vibrant sea-side village, take your time to wonder around at your pace - although we’ll happily guide you through galleries & design stores showcasing a selection of works produced by local artists.
The last stop is at the outstanding Gravity Winery overlooking the Tasman Sea. Producing some of the best wines the region has to offer, this winery was designed as the most innovative gravity fed winery in the Southern Hemisphere. While here, enjoy matching wines with local produce including cheese, chocolate, and charcuterie.
