Today, you're headed out into Nelson's great outdoors by van or coach. Watch for the harbor and Nelson's long, protective boulder bank, which acts as a natural breakwater.
At Cable Bay, you'll gear up with a helmet and a 4x4 ATV (all-terrain vehicle) and set out on a fun mix of 4x4 roads and trails. The Bayview quad-bike circuit offers nine miles of native forest trails. You'll be riding your own quad bike under the guidance of the Adventure Park staff. Cross areas of farmland take in coastal views of Delaware Bay and the wider Nelson area. You'll stop for photos at the longest flying-fox ride (zip-line) in the world before continuing to the Bayview Lookout with vistas from Delaware Bay to d'Urville Island.
Enjoy light refreshments before heading back to the base.
Please note:
ATV driving instruction is given. You will have a chance to hone your skills on the practice track. Safety gear is provided and must be worn. Drivers must display a level of competence prior to being allowed on the tour; anyone not meeting a minimum level will be able to take the tour as a passenger. Minimum age is 16 years. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water.
