Today you will enjoy a two-mile gentle cycle, great wine and stunning scenery.
Leave Picton by van for the nearby town of Blenheim -- the provincial seat and epicenter of the world-renowned Marlborough wine district. Gear up with a bike and helmet and start a leisurely, guided ride to three of Marlborough's boutique wineries.
First, you'll stop at Whitehaven, whose philosophy centers on the pursuit of 'quality without compromise' -- a principle underpinning the entire winemaking cycle. A wine tasting here introduces you to this concept and to the viticulture of New Zealand.
Nautilus winery -- renowned for wine styles that typify the region -- is located at the start of 'the golden mile' that is home to some of Marlborough's leading wineries. Its symbol is the mathematically-perfect spiral of the Nautilus shell, found throughout nature. This natural balance and proportion is something the winemaker seeks to express in his wines.
Continue along river stopbanks (levies), quiet country roads and cycle paths to Mahi Winery -- a boutique winery that is very well respected within the industry. Here, in a private room, you will enjoy a wine-tasting accompanied by delicious local food as you sit down to an exclusive lunch .
Please note: In case of inclement weather, a van will transfer you between wineries. Wineries visited are subject to change. Minimum age is 12 years. You are welcome to bring any on-tour alcohol purchases (beer, wine, spirits) back to the ship with you, and to enjoy them on board. There is no corkage fee.
