Picton's newest attraction is the Link Pathway. This newly-constructed walk- and cycleway offers spectacular Marlborough Sounds scenery in close proximity to Picton.
The two-hour (roundtrip) walk from Wedge Point to Picton is along a wide, easy-gradient track that is suitable for all ages with moderate fitness. The path offers views of Queen Charlotte Sound.
The walk takes you through beech forest, past the ruins of a World War II radio station, and through scenic Shakespeare Bay. Your local guide shares the history of the area with you as you walk and will identify New Zealand's native birds and plants for you along the way.
Take photos from a great vantage point over the town of Picton.
Please note:
Wear comfortable walking shoes. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable sunscreen. Bring bottled water. Bring a backpack to stow belongings.
