Go beyond the ordinary with a tour of the Eyre Peninsula, which unfolds as a captivating tapestry of coastal beauty, where pristine beaches meet dramatic cliffs and azure waters. Today’s journey will take you to beautiful lookouts to see majestic birds, stunning views, and a fascinating museum.
Travel 30 miles west to the Eyre Peninsula, passing through Big Swamp. This pragmatically-named landmark is prime habitat for the majestic black swans that breed here annually. It’s also a favorite stopover spot for migratory Cape Barron geese. Snap photos of these majestic birds along the way.
Pass through the Marble Ranges and Mount Dutton as you head toward Farm Beach – the home of the King George whiting. Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the white sand as you hear stories of the local fishing industry.
Next, enjoy a stop at the Dutton Bay Heritage Woolshed Museum, set on the shores of the scenic Dutton Bay. This is a working museum where you can participate in a guided tour. Afterward, savor tasty Duttonshire morning tea/coffee and snacks – all homemade.
The return journey includes a brief stop at the Winters Hill Lookout to take in breathtaking views of Port Lincoln and Boston Bay.
