Day 1 (L/D) Sydney - Uluru
Transfer to Sydney Airport for a flight to Ayers Rock and transfer to the hotel for lunch, including two glasses of wine or beer -- a grazing platter dining style typical of the Antipodes.
Head out for an afternoon of touring.
Tonight's Wintjiri Wiru Sunset Dinner (meaning "beautiful view out to the horizon") is a breathtaking cultural storytelling experience that brings to life a chapter of the ancestral Mala Aboriginal story through choreographed drones, lasers and projections that illuminate the night sky. It's a story passed on for thousands of generations, re-told and re-imagined in a 21st-century medium. A culinary adventure follows in the form of a gourmet dinner hamper.
Hotel: Sails in the Desert Resort (3pm check-in time).
Day 2 (B/L/D) Uluru
Set out before dawn, traveling towards Uluru and seeing its vast shape rising from the sand dunes in the early light. From a special location, enjoy uninterrupted views to watch the sun rise over this amazing monolith.
Return to the hotel for breakfast in the restaurant.
After breakfast, enjoy a fun and creative experience exclusive upstairs space offering breathtaking views of Uluru. Guided by a respected Walkatjara artist from the Mutitjulu Community, connect with the ancient Anangu wisdom of the land and learn about the traditional symbols that hold the spirit of the Anangu Aboriginal people. You'll create your own dot painting based on what you hear, leaving with your unique canvas keepsake created with the guidance of the Walkatjara team.
Lunch is served at Geckos Café, including two glasses of wine or beer. Then, set off to discover Uluru at sunset. Uluru is the most profoundly culturally significant monolith in Australia. Embrace the culture, geology and environment that is Uluru as you drive around the base. Take a short walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole and visit some rock art sites. The Mala Walk is your chance to learn about Uluru's significance to the Anangu (local Aboriginal people). Observe the sunset for a different perspective over Uluru.
Dinner at the hotel includes two glasses of wine or beer.
Hotel: Sails in the Desert Resort
Day 3 (B/L) Ayers Rock - Melbourne
Before dawn, transfer to the Field of Light location to learn about internationally renowned artist Bruce Munro and his breathtaking light installation. You will wander, mesmerized, in complete darkness through 50,000 illuminated spheres. This is a surreal experience that will remain with you for life.
Head to a sand dune for a sunrise view of Uluru and Kata Tjuta with a hot cup of tea, coffee, or hot chocolate as the desert comes to life in the cool of the morning.
Breakfast is served back at the resort.
