Discover the geology, history and wildlife of Magnetic Island, so named because it reputedly had a magnetic effect on Captain Cook's ship compass when he sailed past in 1770.
An exhilarating 20-minute fast-cat cruise across the clear blue waters of Cleveland Bay will bring you to the island. More than half of Magnetic Island is reserved as a National Park, and this has preserved the stunning scenery and natural habitats of koalas, possums and rock wallabies as well as a variety of birds. Where the headlands meet the sea, secluded beaches have formed -- many of which can only be reached on foot or by boat.
See the highlights of the island on a guided bus tour, stopping for photos at the Florence Bay Lookout.
You'll encounter native wildlife on a guided ranger tour of Bungalow Bay Koala Village, where you can hold a koala or baby crocodile for a souvenir photograph (at your own expense).
Relax over afternoon tea, served in the alfresco dining area, before returning to the Nelly Bay Terminal for your transfer back to Townsville.
Please note: Tour timing and duration may vary due to public ferry timetables. Tour does not operate on holidays.
