Travel 1.5 hours by motorcoach north of Townsville to the region of Ingham, known for its sugar industry. You will pause en route for a taste of local tropical fruits and a cup of coffee.
Discover the history of an Aboriginal cattle station and the culture of the Nywaigi Aboriginal people, occupiers of the lands north of Townsville for more than 45,000 years.
At the homestead, you will hear the history of the indigenous people and the first European settlers of the region -- the Cassady family. Tour the remnants of the old homestead site and hear about the brutal confrontations between the European settlers and the local people.
Try your hand at boomerang-throwing.
An Aboriginal feast known as Kup Murri -- a selection of meats, fish and vegetables -- is cooked in an authentic underground pit oven.
Your day includes time to chat with indigenous storytellers and hear the Captive Lives story. Take a look at the exhibit on display in the Grand Old Mungalla homestead.
Please note: Tour does not operate on holidays. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable sunscreen. Bring bottled water.
