Go beyond the ordinary with a thrilling adventure into the heart of Queensland’s wildlife. On your Proserpine River cruise your boat will gently navigate the mangrove-line banks as the anticipation builds, providing you with a unique opportunity to witness the ancient crocodile in its natural habitat. This is sure to be once-in-a-lifetime experience.
This fascinating day trip into the Aussie bush (backcountry) starts with a coach journey to Proserpine – a small city in the heart of sugarcane country. Nestled in the heart of Whitsundays, it captivates visitors with its charm and proximity to the Great Barrier Reef.
Proserpine is bordered by Proserpine River, where you will board a sightseeing boat for a cruise through the mangroves. The estuary and wetlands of the Proserpine River are home to many species of bird and mammal. More than 150 estuarine crocodiles – known as "salties" – live here. Your knowledgeable guide will explain this special ecosystem.
Back on land, a tractor-pulled wagon ride through the Goorganga wetlands, mangroves and saltpans showcases a land that has changed little since Captain Cook first explored it more than 250 years ago.
Finally, you’ll try traditional "billy tea" and freshly-cooked damper – Australia's Bush bread. For lunch, savor a barbecue of meats and salads served at a covered campsite.
