Set out with a small group (maximum 14 privileged guests) to visit two of Portland's most iconic historic homes — the Victorian Mansion and the Henry Wadsworth-Longfellow House
The Victorian Mansion is a grand example of 19th-century architecture. Built in the late 1800s, this meticulously preserved house showcases the ornate style of the era, with intricate woodwork, stained-glass windows, and expansive rooms that reflect the affluence of its original owners. The mansion's design features elaborate gables, a sweeping staircase, and period furnishings, immersing visitors in the elegance of a bygone time.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow House — former home of the famous poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow — is a Georgian-style home that was the poet's residence for nearly half his life. In fact, he wrote many of his best-known works here. The house, built in 1785, reflects Longfellow's life and legacy, with rooms furnished in the style of the period, featuring artifacts and personal belongings of the poet and his family.
Please note: Restrooms are available at the Victoria Mansion and before and after the Longfellow House visit. Tour requires approximately 30 minutes of slow walking and standing at each venue. Strollers are not allowed in the Victorian Mansion; food, drink, chewing gum, chewing tobacco, smoking, or vaping are not allowed inside or on the grounds. Large bags and backpacks must be left on the transportation. A digital slide show tour of the second floor is offered for those unable to climb stairs. Docents are available throughout the Mansion. Wear comfortable walking shoes.
