Discover one of the world's most remarkable natural phenomena at the Bay of Fundy, home to the highest tides on Earth. At Burntcoat Head Park, where the highest tides ever recorded occur, witness a landscape transformed by an extraordinary tidal range of up to 53.6 feet. Twice each day, more than 160 billion tons of water flow into and out of the bay, dramatically reshaping the shoreline and influencing life along the coast.
During your visit, descend to the ocean floor at low tide to explore this unique marine environment. Search for fossils, observe tidal pools, and discover the small creatures left behind by the receding sea, including periwinkles, hermit crabs, and other shoreline inhabitants. Learn how generations of settlers, fishermen, and mariners adapted their lives to the rhythm of the tides, which can rise at an astonishing rate of nearly one inch per minute.
A deluxe boxed lunch is included and may be enjoyed overlooking the bay, on the exposed ocean floor, or within the park's gardens. Guests will also have time to stroll the park's walking trails, browse the gift shop, and climb the lighthouse for panoramic views across the Bay of Fundy.
The journey continues to the Fundy Tidal Interpretive Centre in South Maitland, where exhibits explain the science behind the region's exceptional tides. From the observation deck, enjoy views of the Shubenacadie River and its distinctive red clay banks and, conditions permitting, witness the fascinating spectacle of the incoming Fundy tide reversing the river's flow. A scenic drive highlighting the city concludes the tour before returning to the ship.

Transportation is by motorcoach. Guests should expect approximately 1.5 to 2 miles (2.5 to 3 km) of walking over a combination of crushed stone trails, mulch paths, uneven natural surfaces, and the exposed ocean floor. Access to the shoreline requires descending concrete steps followed by six carved sandstone steps. Conditions on the ocean floor can be muddy, wet, uneven, and slippery, and the area's distinctive red clay may stain footwear and clothing. Guests are encouraged to wear shoes they do not mind getting wet or dirty and to bring a windproof outer layer.
The sights and shoreline features visible during your visit will vary according to the height and timing of the tides. For safety, guests should remain aware of the rapidly rising tide and stay close to designated shoreline areas. Entering the beach caves is not permitted. Wading in tidal pools should be avoided, and care should be taken not to disturb shell colonies or marine life. Any creatures handled should be returned gently to the location where they were found.
The lighthouse visit includes stairs. The order of sites visited may vary based on tidal conditions on the day of operation. A deluxe boxed lunch is included; sandwich selections are not pre-ordered and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
