One of the best ways to discover Québec's historical side is by walking through its lovely narrow cobblestone streets. Your Québecois guide will help you discover the first settlement of New France in the Lower Town, with a visit to Place Royale and the first shopping street in North America -- Le Quartier Petit-Champlain.
Next, a short funicular ride brings you to Dufferin Terrace in the Upper Town. From here, take in the spectacular view of the St Lawrence River, the Ile d'Orléans, and the Laurentian Mountains. The highlight of your tour may well be High Tea at the nearby Château Frontenac -- one of the best-known landmarks in Québec. Perched on a hill overlooking the St-Lawrence River, this castle-like hotel is where Roosevelt, Churchill and Mackenzie King met to discuss their strategy during World War II. You will have time to relax and enjoy a cup of Camelia sinensis tea (or coffee) and sample delectable pastries, cucumber sandwiches, and scones served with marmalade and Crème Devon. The Château's legendary charm will add a special flavor to your memories of Québec.
At the end of your tour, it's a short walk or funicular ride downhill to return to the ship.
Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes. Tour requires approximately 2.5 hours (1.5 miles) of walking over cobblestones and uneven terrain.
