This unique 45-minute aerial adventure allows you to witness the breathtaking beauty of an active volcano, all from the safety and climate-controlled comfort of a state-of-the-art helicopter. Your pilot-narrated tour will keep you engaged in the journey, before skimming the sparkling turquoise waters across to the magnificent island of Montserrat. There you'll ascend over lush, untouched hills, all while a tasteful instrumental soundtrack is played through your headset, completely immersing you in the experience.

You'll make your way over to Montserrat's “Exclusion Zone,” an area designated as off-limits that few ever get to see. At its center is the awe-inspiring Soufrière Hills Volcano, which frequently vents a combination of ash, smoke, and steam. Rising to an impressive 3,000 feet and dominating the island, this volcano towers above the Tar River Gorge and deltas, a reminder of the flows that have surged beneath. In 1997, the volcano had a major eruption, making two-thirds of the island uninhabitable. This tour allows you to experience the massive destruction as you fly over a collection of evacuated villages, the previous location of the W.H. Bramble Airport, and the charred remains of the former capital, Plymouth – now partially buried under 40 feet of ash.

Don't forget to watch for sea life on your flight back to Antigua. Sea turtles are most common, but magnificent humpback and sperm whale sightings can happen as well. Witness the smoke and steam of a live volcano up-close – all from the safety of your luxurious helicopter. These aircraft have raised, stadium-style seating, and no rear-facing seats or partitions to block your view. Guests have great visibility from every seat, so make sure to bring your camera for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Please note: You will be met at the pier by your tour representative and driven to the heliport just 7 minutes away. All aircraft are climate-controlled with air-conditioning in the cabins. Total flight time is around 45 minutes. Every seat has excellent visibility, with raised, stadium-style seating, meaning there are no rear-facing seats or partitions to block your view. There is a weight restriction of 280 lbs. per person and a height restriction of 7 feet. There is also a combined restriction of 1075 lbs. for all 6 passengers on the helicopter. Passengers are provided with BOSE noise-cancelling headsets for intercom communication with the pilot and one another. As with other airlines, guests under 2 years of age may sit on their parent or guardian's lap during the flight at no charge. Passengers are required to travel with their passports. The tour is recorded in a variety of languages, so let the crew know about any language request in advance.
