In the 17th century, molasses was nothing more than a by-product of the sugar refining process, until the happy day that it was discovered that it could be fermented and distilled. The end result? The wonderful, smooth spirit we know today as Caribbean rum.
Let the fun begin, as you travel about 40 minutes by air-conditioned vehicle to picturesque and historic Galleon Beach in the English Harbour area.
You're here for an interactive 90-minute rum masterclass where you first learn all about rum, then work with the experts to conceive and create your own bespoke 750ml bottle of flavored rum.
The characteristics of rum are varied and unique. The tutors will walk you through a selection of rum flavoring samples to help you create your own rum blend as individual as your imagination. You'll be tasting and blending your rum during the distillation process, working with your own pot still to create a perfect bottle for you.
The bottling and labeling process ensures your product looks as distinctive as the rum you've created. Personalized labels and a wax-sealed bottle ensure you can take your rum home and proudly share your one-of-a-kind creation. At the end of the class, you'll take away your unique 750ml bottle of rum distilled in the traditional West Indian way.
Enjoy approximately 15 minutes of free time at Galleon Beach afterward for a quick swim .
