Discover the island of Barbados by way of a panoramic drive, heading out along the West Coast. Often referred to as the Platinum Coast, this is where palm-fringed beaches, luxurious resorts, and tranquil turquoise waters attract the rich and famous.
Turning inland, you'll skirt upland sugarcane fields, villages, churches and plantations before descending to the East Coast. Amazing views lie ahead -- a rugged, rocky landscape with the Atlantic Ocean tumbling recklessly ashore.
You will pause in Bathsheba -- a picturesque seaside village known for its dramatic rock formations and pounding surf. You may spot surfers and nature enthusiasts taking a walk on the wild side. Stroll along the beach if you like, and snap some fantastic photos.
Visit St John's Parish Church, perched on a cliff at 800 feet above sea level. Overlooking coastal St John, the present-day building dates back to 1836 and is a stunning architectural masterpiece offering a glimpse into the island's enduring religious devotion. In the graveyard, look out for the tomb of Ferdinand Paleologus -- a descendent of the Palaiologos dynasty, rulers of the Byzantine Empire from 1259 to 1453., rulers of the Byzantine Empire from 1259 to 1453.
Explore Sunbury Plantation Great House, located in the tranquil St Philip parish countryside. This living monument is your window into the life of wealthy plantation owners in an era when the prosperity of some came at an enormous cost for others. The house is lovingly cherished by its current owners and has been carefully restored for the enjoyment of generations to come. Enjoy a light deli-style lunch here.
Conclude your excursion with a drive back to your ship.
