Take your experience of Belize City to the next level with a panoramic drive that showcases a curious juxtaposition of senescent colonial architecture and modern construction. On this half-day excursion, you’ll see everything from ancient modern ruins to the bustling modern-day city life along its scenic waterfront.
Then, head out to the ancient Mayan civilization ruins of the amazing Altun Ha settlement for a tour of the breathtaking grounds. Here you’ll be taken on a fascinating journey into the past, where you’ll explore well-preserved temples, pyramids, and artifacts that provide insights into the rich history and culture of the Maya people of the region.
Altun Ha is the Mayan ceremonial center where the famous Jade Head of the Sun God Kinich Ahau was found during an expedition led by Professor David Pendergast of the Royal Ontario Museum. The site, set in pristine rain forest, boasts three plazas and thirteen structures within its epicenter and was a vital trade center during the Classic Period (AD 250-900). Stone steps allow visitor to climb the main temples (weather permitting).
Sit back and relax, or ask your guides any remaining questions on the 45-minute ride back to the pier as your adventure comes to an end.
