On this unforgettable excursion, you’ll experience Belize as few do. Through adventurous hikes, learn more about the complex rituals and ceremonies that the Mayan people used to connect with spiritual and supernatural forces that played a vital role in their cosmology. Then take part in the thrilling adventure of cave tubing to discover the beauty of limestone caves adorned with natural wonders. You’ll leave mesmerized by this Central American paradise.
Depart the pier for a scenic, approximately 90-minute drive as you head for the jungle, passing through Franks Eddy Village along the way.
Upon arrival, gear up in your headlight and set off on the adventure of a lifetime. Cross over a suspension bridge before hiking up to an open-air cave where you’ll take a few minutes to enjoy the beauty of the stalactites that hang from the ceiling. Trek through the cave and then through lush jungle, traversing wooden bridges to enter a sacred chamber with rare artifacts where ancient shaman performed ceremonies to the Gods of the Underworld.
Follow a short trail that leads to the entrance of Tiger Cave, a captivating cave featuring 100-foot-high ceilings and stunning limestone formations and underground chambers. As you pass through the cave your guide will point out impressive jaguar tracks, left in the soft soil within the cave floor.
Exit through a secret passageway to trek along the river to a deck where your life vests and tubes are waiting to start your cave tubing adventure.
Soon you are floating through the jungle, before entering Dark Night Cave to make full use of your headlamps. This cave offers you an enchanting subterranean adventure, where you can marvel at intricate limestone formations and navigate through the cave’s shadowy depths. Your guide will point out the different formations you pass during a relaxing float. Every curve will bring a new beautiful sight and as you reach the exit and the cave narrows. You’ll feel the rush of exiting in a dramatic fashion.
Head to Hell Gate Bar & Restaurant to relax, eat, drink and enjoy the sounds of the Sibun River. Before returning to the pier, browse the gift shop and view photos taken along the route (available for purchase).
Please Note: Minimum age is 8 years. Water shoes are recommended and are available to rent. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing, bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, a cover-up for further protection from the sun, and a hat. Guests with back, neck or heart problems are not allowed to participate. Not advisable for guests with mobility limitations. Bring insect repellent.
